September Support Group
Sometimes before scans or an upcoming doctor's appointment, or maybe in the middle of the night, or even as I'm going about my day and I experience a trigger, my thoughts start to spiral. And once my thoughts start racing it can be really hard to get them to slow down.
We can refer to these spiraling and racing thoughts as "Thought Tornadoes". These thought tornadoes, just like real tornadoes, can leave a path of destruction in our lives. They can cause anxiety, panic attacks, irritability, lack of self-control, fear, anger, etc. The amazing news is that over time and with strategies in place, we can learn to calm these thought tornadoes!!
Jennifer Barnhart--a certified Life Coach--will be returning to us once again to present "Calming Your Thought Tornadoes." She has tangible strategies, a thoughtful presentation, and is happy to answer your specific questions. We are so excited to have her share these valuable tips and tools.
Please note we will NOT be meeting on the last Tuesday of this month! Our meeting will be on Sept 16th.

The topic is “Family Talk” presented by Adrianne Condos. She will explain ways to talk to your family members about cancer. Whether you’ve just been diagnosed, or currently in treatment.
Adrianne brings both wisdom and compassion to this sensitive topic with her years of working with cancer patients. She will teach us practical tools for communicating with the people closest to us. These conversations can be some of the hardest to have so we hope you can make it!

Dinner Meetup

July Support Group
When you look at your reflection in the mirror, what do you see? WHO do you see? Do you see your scars, hair loss, or weight gain/loss? Do you see all that has changed since treatment? Or do you see the deeper you? What do these physical changes mean to you and how do you feel about them?
These are some tough questions to reflect on. As women, we often build our identity around our looks and appearance. However, treatment can bring physical changes to our bodies.
This month we will be addressing in real talk how these physical changes affect us mentally and emotionally after breast cancer treatment and how we can move forward in a positive way.
Please join us on July 29th at 7pm as we discuss "Beauty Deeper Than Scars: addressing physical changes after breast cancer treatment."

The Choice: Embrace the Possible, by Edith Eger
At the age of sixteen, Edith Eger was sent to Auschwitz. Hours after her parents were killed, Nazi officer Dr. Josef Mengele, forced Edie to dance for his amusement and her survival. Edie was pulled from a pile of corpses when the American troops liberated the camps in 1945.
Edie spent decades struggling with flashbacks and survivor’s guilt, determined to stay silent and hide from the past. Thirty-five years after the war ended, she returned to Auschwitz and was finally able to fully heal and forgive the one person she’d been unable to forgive—herself.
Edie weaves her remarkable personal journey with the moving stories of those she has helped heal. She explores how we can be imprisoned in our own minds and shows us how to find the key to freedom. The Choice is a life-changing book that will provide hope and comfort to generations of readers.
